Aveva Dese, an Ethiopian-Israeli singer and songwriter, is a rising star in the Israeli music scene. Aveva’s music brings stimulating African groove with a touch of the fresh urban beat of Tel Aviv. As a child of Jewish parents who suffered from persecution and struggled to come from Ethiopia to Israel, Aveva has a unique life story which she conveys through her music. Aveva sings powerfully – in English and Amharic – about society, freedom and love. Traditional Ethiopian sounds mix with a pop sensibility in Aveva’s music, producing an aesthetic with universal appeal. With a kicking beat and Aveva’s beautiful voice and charm, audiences are lifted to their feet in dance and moved in their souls
Aveva formed her band in 2013, and has been constantly performing ever since. With her band Aveva has played many of the popular festivals in Israel, including Indnegev, Zorba, Yearot, Menashe and more. She has also performed at venues in France, Canada, and the United States, including a special show at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Aveva’s first album, “Who Am I”, was produced by Yossi Fine and released November 2016.
